when to write a press release media press release format

5. CALL TO ACTION: Most readers won’t make it to the bottom of the page. Insert your call to action link for the public after the first or second paragraph. Restrained use of links directs readers to a specific call to action.
This is one of the best graphics I’ve seen describing the correct formula for a press release. However, you forgot one thing. Just above the Headline you forgot to write the words: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (in call caps). If I may please ask you to revise your graphic, you would help a lot of new writers to learn the true formula of an Associated Press press release standard. Thanks again for your well designed and informative graphic.
The site offers several different press distribution options, including a free plan to submit up to one posting per day.  They also provide great press release writing tips on their “PR Resources” page.
In addition to being picked up by journalists, this press effort has also resulted in additional writeups and mentions since then, and continues to bring Shoreline Lake to the attention of oenophiles and others wanting unique wine-based, and related, experiences in Silicon Valley. This was not a standalone effort however; but rather a tactic used to achieve some very specific market communications goals (which were all met).
Writers and journalists are always looking for good story opportunities to post on their publication’s website – no matter the size or amount.  In many cases, any legitimate story is better than no story.
Unless the journalist has voluntarily agreed to honor the embargo in advance, usually via a legally binding non-disclosure agreement, the journalist is under no obligation to it. However, even in the absence of any obligation, news organizations generally do not break the embargo for sources that they wish to cultivate. If they do, then the agency or client that sent the release may blacklist them.
This should be factual and to the point, but it doesn’t need to be boring. Consider finding unconventional ways to say conventional things. If you can make a journalist smile, you will stand a much greater chance of making an impression on them, and thus, having your book featured.
From reaching media and industry influencers to driving search visibility and sales, there are so many things a press release can achieve for today’s PR and marketing pros. However, with all of the focus on storytelling and distribution (both very important things), it can be easy to forget other press release must-dos.
Online PR Media isn’t just a service for free press releases. The site also offers paid options, but, regardless, clients who opt for press release free distribution options still receive the benefit of optimization features.
But, with so many people on information overload via social media, texts, and emails, how do you generate excitement? What elements should your press release include or exclude? Including the following elements should give you a good outline of how to write a press release for an event, while generating a buzz that will tell your reader that yours is not an event to be missed! Ideally, you want your press release to land in the recipient’s primary inbox. This is why you should not send bulk emails to hundreds of contacts. Using Mailchimp or another newsletter service will usually get your email categorized as a promotion, not primary inbox material. Even individual emails can end up in the spam folder if the sender’s email / domain is blacklisted. Check yours here:

The second last thing that is necessary to be put in the press release is the background of the company. In this section, you need to include the complete information and bio data of the company. You can describe your company, talk about its products and services and everything that you think is necessary to be discussed.

Failing to include a powerful call to action is like selling tickets to a speech you’re giving, packing the venue…and then saying nothing to the audience. If people have read to the end of your press release, it means you’ve engaged and interested them. Don’t waste that opportunity! Maybe you want people to visit your author page, attend a book launch event, or check out some other aspect of your author activities. Be clear about what your aim is.
