Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. “Agent J’s KillemDead 2000 technology ensures that the room is disinfected without the chance of human error,” said James Polk, CEO of NoGerm Technologies who created and manufactures the Agent J robot. Experts recommend that your release should also include at least one quote in the body. The quote should come someone knowledgeable about the announcement being made, such as a product manager if you’re announcing a new invention, or a top executive if announcing company wide changes. The quote can also be used to explain how your announcement makes you stand out from other competitors, even if you don’t mention them by name.
You can also hire an agency that has access to a media database – we use Meltwater for this, but Cision is also a good option and there are several others. You can gain access to these databases yourself, but it’s very costly (around $20k/year). When you go with an agency, you’re splitting that cost among other clients – and some agencies will pull you a media list for a fee, and let you handle the outreach. The reach, combined with timing, made our product, Facebook AETracker, receive fantastic coverage throughout the web. We were overwhelmed by the leads — which we cannot complain about! This one ranks among the best marketing dollars we spent ever when it comes to ROI.
After you’ve provided a couple hundred words of in-depth coverage, you must include at least two separate quotes from someone within the company. Most newspapers won’t even consider publishing a story without quotes. Bearing that in mind, there are two rules you absolutely must not break when adding these quotes.
