she started it press release new business announcement message

In addition to being picked up by journalists, this press effort has also resulted in additional writeups and mentions since then, and continues to bring Shoreline Lake to the attention of oenophiles and others wanting unique wine-based, and related, experiences in Silicon Valley. This was not a standalone effort however; but rather a tactic used to achieve some very specific market communications goals (which were all met).
First we are going to look at a press that we at Fit Small Business recently sent out, so that we can point out the attributes of a good press release. You should look out for these points when viewing the other examples below.
Press release templates are document models which are used to tell new subjects to the target audience. Overall, a press release is news originating from a business, an organization, a new startup, or an established entity. The purpose of the news story is not to persuade a reader to make a purchase of something at all; rather. You may also see Media Schedule Templates.

My purpose is not only to generate publicity over time, but also to build quality backlinks to my website where readers can purchase my product or get more information. I distribute one new press release every two weeks until I have submitted six. During and after this time, I track my results to determine how effective I was.

To maximize the reach of each social media post, build cross-promotional partnerships. This means making a pact with fellow filmmakers or bloggers/vloggers to share each other’s posts. People are much more likely to share posts that have already been shared a few times. You can also mobilize your production team to do this, but it usually works best among parties that are each promoting something and spend a lot of time online.
Getting a journalist to open your email is important, but if your first sentence doesn’t grab them, they may not read any further – which is why you need to get the top line (the most important bit) of your story right at the beginning of your release. Your first line should be a summary of the story (in no more than around 15-20 words) and read like the opening of a news story.
The final thing to consider regarding your press release is how much editing it will take. Remember, a press release is meant to be picked up by the media, and pushing one out that includes errors or other mistakes can be devastating to your company. With that in mind, set aside ample time to edit your press release before you publish it.
Heading: This needs to be strong. People are interested in how a business expands, who it sells to, and how much money it makes. Craft your headline with a strong title that grabs a reader’s attention right away.

The truth is that many of the authors who do this didn’t get featured on the ABC or Fox that we know.  Their book press release showed up on obscure sub-affiliates of these major websites, like NBC Milwaukee or something like that.  It’s still NBC, right?  But not the one you immediately think of…sneaky sneaky.
On the other hand, a press release is not meant for all public and if you want to target social media or your potential users you can also write an alternative press release. Check out this great post by CopyBlogger on how to write a social media press release.
PRLog does not publish immediately, usually takes a couple days. They have published every release I’ve submitted – knock on wood -and have always sent a follow-up email notifying me that my release is live.
You can sort any column alphabetically by clicking the arrow next to the column heading. I’d recommend going straight to Status header and finding the Winners. Those are the ones you’ll want to submit to.
Your CTA needs an action word (i.e., sign up or view) that prompts the reader to take the next desired step. Use language that creates urgency, such as Today or Limited Supply. Decide what action you want your readers to take, and craft a CTA that will nudge them in that direction.
Some sites tell you exactly how to get your link in the published press release and/or author bio. Some don’t. Check your release carefully before submitting and make sure to add HTML coding: keyword when necessary.
Signal the end of the press release with the word Ends in bold. After Ends, write For further information, please contact and list your details or those of an appointed person. Do give a mobile number if you can, so that journalists can contact you easily. The more accessible you are, the better.
An alternative is the self-published press release. In this approach, press releases are either sent directly to local newspapers or to free and paid distribution services.[7] The distribution service then provides the content, as-is, to their media outlets for publication which is usually online.
Following is a sample press release. This sample shows both physical set up (notice the dateline, headline and other tips) and ideas for content and content placement. In addition to following this outline and structure, consider checking out some actual press releases for ideas, too.
Contact information for the person handling press for the release in the band or at the label (labels should especially consider having their label logo somewhere along the top of the page – ideally in the top right or left-hand corner).
A press release template is a message sent to a media outlet regarding a matter which you think would be newsworthy for them. It is a way of getting the media outlet to print the details of your particular event or matter in the form of a news article.
A press release is a written communication that reports specific but brief information about an event, circumstance or other happening. It’s typically tied to a business or organization and is provided to media through a variety of means.
Each submission includes a downloadable PDF Report that contains a detailed listing of the exact URLs where your press release has been published. We also track the number of Shares, Likes, Tweets and G+1 your PR receives as well as the geographic location of your readers. If desired, you can track your press release with your Google Analytics account.
At the end of the release, you need to indicate that the release is ended. The usual method of transmitting your release is via fax, and this is the best way to let journalists know they have received the entire release. Type End on the first line after your text is completed. If your release goes over one page, type MORE at the bottom of the first page. Then retype the title and the date on page two, so there is no question which release the second page goes with.
Thanks for sharing this, Brian. This piece is a great overview and I found it very informative. I also checked out the link you provided and will read some of the ebooks with press release writing tips.
Do not waste time writing the headline until the release is done. Copy editors write the real headlines in newspapers and magazines, but it is good to come up with a catchy title or headline for the release. This headline may be your only chance. Keep it concise and factual. It’s a good idea not to write it until after you finish the press release. You don’t know yet exactly what you—–or those you interview, will say. When you have finished a draft of the release, you may decide to revise your lead—or not. Then, and only then, think about the headline.
To help you write your press release, here is a sample of one and a breakdown of its elements. The press release example below is based on the one given by Dave Wooldridge in its book The Business of iPhone App Development and seems to be working just fine.
Another idea is to give them a suggestion on where your news may fit in their publication. For example, you suggest that your press release may be a good for the X section. These tips demonstrate that you know something about the media outlet and aren’t just spamming them with your press release.
Put the words For immediate release at the very top of the page. The headline — the key to grabbing attention — should be centered on the page, and usually written in bold or capital letters. Under that, put a subhead, often in italics, that elaborates on the headline.
Alexa Traffic: A subsidiary of Amazon.com, Alexa.com tracks website traffic from across the Internet. The number represents an estimate of traffic plus pageviews over a 3 month period. The LOWER the Alexa number, the MORE popular the website and the more traffic it generates.
Hi Emmy. I just saw your video on marketing. So good! It filled a few gaps I hadn’t covered in my research. But one thing is still blurry to me. I would ask you : Where, in an email to the review sites, should we present the Press Release? Say I write to Toutcharcade. My first thought is I would be personal with them, talking to them about my game, my team… And if so, would I copy paste the Press Release below, in the email? Or are we supposed to place that PR as attachment to the email (just like the screenshots and Youtube trailer). Also is there a particularity that differs a review site to an article site? Many websites seem oriented towards revewing only. I’m guessing we need a different approach with them, without a PR. Sorry for the long post. Thank you!! Dominic
We sent out the press release, and the media loved the story that Jennifer Aniston beat J-Lo. Well over a hundred media outlets ran the story, and it was even used as a question on the game show The Hollywood Squares.
