The last step in writing a press release is to write the phone number(s), fax, email, website addresses and other links for social media platforms where the business is active. In addition to this, you can also write about your business partners and potential clients in this section. Make sure you conclude the press release with a call to action.
Here, you can find background descriptions of local businesses, detailed service listings, and articles on an array of consumer topics, creating a valuable repository for all types of free press releases.
There is a source of natural color that cannot be replicated: quotes. Including a good quote from someone in the company or close to the product/event can give a human element to the press release, as well as being a source of information in its own right.
3.     You can boost your company’s visibility. This is especially important for small businesses, but even large corporations need to fight for consumer mindshare. By sticking to a long-term press release distribution strategy, you let customers know who you are, what you do, and why they need you. You also gain the attention of journalists, and over time, they start to trust you more and give you more media coverage.
Using standard package from PR Web, we created a generic Press Release by PR Web for an incredible book by Pamela Hodges called “How to Be a Cat.”  This book is so fun and catchy that some of my favorite authors like Marion Roach Smith, Joe Bunting, Jeff Goins, and Steven Pressfield gave incredible endorsements.
Take advantage of the opportunity with this list of free press release websites and distribution services at least once a month on the internet.  Some might view a press release as marketing while others view it as education or information.  Regardless, if you do something worth shouting about in your business, then do so!  Press releases keep the world informed and possibly…improve the chances of getting found.
Tell your story as visually as possible. Include infographics with key statistics and data, photos of your product, or a video demonstration. Replace those dry numbers with a colorful chart that visually emphasizes your point. This adds value to your press release, and could make the difference in a journalist choosing to cover your story over another.
With timing, there are two things to worry about – how much notice to give and the date and time of actually sending the press release. Let’s face it – stories about (indie) films are not Breaking News. Many channels have their “low urgency” items mapped out for weeks ahead, so if you’re hoping to get a story out before your big premiere, make sure you give them enough time to schedule it in – but not so much time that they will put it aside and forget all about it. How much notice is needed varies from hours to several weeks, even months. Smaller online channels usually have a faster turnaround, whereas traditional newsrooms plan further ahead. This is something you can actually contact the writers about – a good way to start building those relationships!
Beware being vague. Sure, essentially what you are always trying to promote is yourself – you want to get the word out about what you’re doing now, so people will be interested in what you’re doing in the future. However, even megastars don’t JUST promote themselves. They are the subject of profiles and interviews when they have new projects coming out – and those new projects are the focal point.
The first body paragraph should present the who, what, when, where, and why/how of the press release. This should act as a short summary that gives the reader a general idea of what the whole story is about. You should stick to the facts here, and avoid hyping or trying to sell your products or services. The body text should be typed in a non-bolded size 12 font.

This press release gave us exposure in several dog magazines, including San Diego Dog and NOVADog (Virginia), online media such as Edge Media Network, a local radio station, and with local charities who promoted the event in their area.
Go online and visit your local media sites and copy their emails and first names into an Excel sheet. Next, go to MailChimp, which is a free email marketing service, and create an account. Add your mailing list of local and national media reporters that you wish to send your releases to. Now you can build your release complete with all of your contact information into an email, and send it to every reporter on your list.
There’s only one service I’d recommend for the syndication of your press release on social channels and that service is Pitch Engine. This is a social branding and marketing distribution service that you piggyback with your press release. It allows you to track social analytics and traction as you gain more headway. It’s advised you write an entirely unique carbon copy of the actual release you are posting (through conventional distribution channels) and use that post with Pitch Engine to gain even more traction.
As a senior journalist who has just crossed over to the dark side of PR, I am amazed at some of the advice above, obviously from people who have never worked as a journo and have little idea as to how they work (well, how we worked and how I suspect most major news organisations work).
Hello Dominic. Thank you for the comment. When you email any writer, editor, reviewer, etc., your email should ALWAYS be tailored to that person and the readership of the publication that he/she writes for–as you mention in your note. It should be personalized to the individual you are writing to and explain why that person’s readership will love your game (i.e., your tailored pitch). As for your press release, it can be copied and pasted below your main email, or you could post it on an online press kit and link to it from your email. In this online press kit you could also include your screenshots, trailer video, etc.
Understanding exactly where your news is sent by press release website is important. In fact, it may be one of the most important deciding factors for which press release distribution option you choose.
A boilerplate is a short paragraph that explains the identity of a company and what it does. Boilerplate is optional, but it doesn’t hurt to have one to help identify your business. Think of boilerplates as a thumbnail sketch of your company that provides a little background information to the press. Once you’ve written a boilerplate, you can use it in all of your press releases.
Following our press release template will help you stay on point as you write your press release. You’ll want to follow it closely to ensure you’ve included all the key information, such as your release date, boilerplate, and end notation.
Tie it together. Provide some extra information links that support your press release. Does the company you’re selling have additional information online that readers may find useful? Great. Add it in.
A: App Icon and app name / Company. Insert your magnificient app icon at the top of the press release along with your app name (not the “long version” you might use on the AppStore or Google Play). It could also be your company name and logo, depending on which one you want to put the focus on (if you company is unknown, I suggest you focus on the app).
Sending out hundreds of press releases one by one is usually more time intensive than most companies can handle. This is especially true if they are running lean and handling press release distribution with a small staff.
The job of the press release title is to grab attention and encourage the journalist to read more. Don’t labour over what title might look good in print – most journalists/editors will change the title to suit their readership.
For any well-written release with genuine news, a paid press release service is the most cost-efficient way to earn legitimate media placements, confirmed by valid media monitoring and measurement reports. If you use your own media contact list as your primary method of targeting specific journalists and news outlets, the paid news release services can and should be used to supplement and backstop your targeted media relations efforts.
I want to be a trusted resource for that media so I’m trying to give the journalist all the information when they need it so they don’t have to go anywhere else, says Gillian Pommerehn, director of public relations for Crosby Marketing, which is based in Annapolis, Maryland, and whose clients include the U.S. Department of Agriculture and DuPont.
