press release contact info how to write a headline for a press release

So this is a double-edged sword. What you really want is for journalists to see your story and cover it in their own unique way (ie, original content they create on their own). If you can also become a valuable source of unique info in your industry, that’s your bigger win. Kari touched on that well as part of this article.
PR Newswire for Journalists helps you stay on top of the latest news in your beat. You’ll also have access to ProfNet experts and multimedia to round out your stories, plus a media blog, job listings, and other resources.
You’ll most likely be sending out releases through e-mail and posting them on your company’s website, so experts say you should consider including some digital features, such as video and audio. It’s also an opportunity to link back to other company information available online — previous press releases and related matter such as customer testimonials or performance reports — that will give the news media additional context.
The News Widget can be embedded on your website or blog so you can showcase your company’s news, updates, and achievements. You can customize it by selecting the colors, font size, and width so it will match the rest of your website branding and then generate the code.
The truth is that many of the authors who do this didn’t get featured on the ABC or Fox that we know.  Their book press release showed up on obscure sub-affiliates of these major websites, like NBC Milwaukee or something like that.  It’s still NBC, right?  But not the one you immediately think of…sneaky sneaky.
The balance of the press release serves to back up whatever claims were made in the lead and headline. In this case, you’d pull some quotes from the message boards (an aside here: if you really were to pull quotes in this fashion, you should only use the poster’s name or identifying information with his or her permission. Otherwise, simply say a 14 year old boy said… or a 16 year old Midwestern girl added… Also, if this technique appeals to you, be certain that a disclaimer appears on your message boards notifying posters that all posts become your property and copyright). Use enough supporting material to make your case, and to demonstrate that, whatever angle you’re promoting, it wasn’t something you slapped together carelessly.
Don’t be tempted to include background information about your company in the opening paragraph. This – along with any other additional information – can always be included in a notes to editors section at the end (it’s fine to run over to a second page for this).
Final Thoughts: The site promises the moon, but it will cost you a ticket there. For $299 they guarantee placement of press release on at least 75 online PR media sites. Small to medium size businesses would do well to consider the cost versus the price for submission. Those who can’t afford PRNewswire can definitely go for eReleases.
Don’t Beat Around The Bush. A press release is no place for jargon or inefficient communication. Make your point clearly and remove any words, phrases, and approaches that don’t help clarify your point immediately.
Hello. Although I personally reckon this post is a bit prescriptive (I prefer devs to just say Hey, made a NEW THING! Here it is!, there are some good tips regarding content to possibly include. (Just, y’know, avoid doing the robot thing. I get 50+ PRs on a good a day (on a bad day, I get more), and many of them look identical in structure and that’s a FIVE-ALARM WARNING to bin every one of the things.) In terms of format, though, speaking as a journo, sending me a Word document is a really great way to get me to immediately delete your PR. Send the text in the *body* of the email, so I can easily access and search it later. Do not make me load up some other app or even fire up Quick Look to view your copy. (Also, a *huge* number of devs I know don’t use Word these days, threatening any fancy formatting. PDF’s fine for an online press kit, though—no problems copying and pasting from it, assuming you’ve done the PDF right.) And I’m sure this sounds grumpy as hell, but when you’re bombarded by email, you need to be able to filter things very quickly. There are several different associations of news agencies. EANA is the European Alliance of Press Agencies, while the OANA is an association of news agencies of the Asia-Pacific region. MINDS is a global network of leading news agencies collaborating in new media business.
If we concisely talk about writing the press release, then it should read like a news story written from the perspective of a third person in an informing tone. Also, the sources and quotes must be cited with the information to make it more authentic and genuine in the eyes of the audience. Most of the companies try to keep the press releases succinct while some of them are lengthy. Regardless of its length and size, a press release should cover the entire information and should have enough content to convey the complete and clear message.
Hi Mike, thank you for your comment and suggestion! I think adding that line would be a good improvement for the template. Once I get some time, I’ll try to make that adjustment. That said, I may take your suggestion a bit further. Instead of saying FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, I may put something like FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE or EMBARGOED UNTIL [INSERT DATE] so developers know where to put the for immediate release or embargo date 🙂
The headline or “head” is your first chance to grab your reader’s attention and inspire them to keep reading. You should keep your headline short and to the point. Try to stay within the 80-170 characters range, and use language that is clear and easy to understand.
If you are submitting press releases on behalf of clients, you either need to setup different accounts for each client, or manually update the “Company Info” for each client’s submission. This is VERY important because the ‘website’ field is what provides you the link.
· Free White Label Service- Unlike other PR sites that charge you an additional premium for white label press release distribution, NewswireNEXT does it for free. In other words, their distribution packages are white label by default. Best for businesses, resellers and PR agencies who do not want the name of distributor appear in press release, media outlets and report.
Make it clean, crisp, and applicable to your audience. Odds are whoever you sent your press release to has a dozen just like it in his/her inbox just waiting to be ignored. If you want yours to be chosen, it’s got to be good. Not only does it have to be good, but it has to be as close to ready for press as possible.
In my experience, if it reads like the lead to a story then it makes it easier for a news outlet to publish as is, or for a reporter to pick up the ball and run with it from there. I am not saying every news outlet will use your exact lead, or even publish the release in full, but it does give them a good idea of how they might approach your story. I have had a lot of success having my press releases picked up and run as is.

· Mobile Optimized Press Release (Google AMP, Apple News and FB Instant Articles)- When compared to traditional desktop users, the number of the consumers using tablets and smartphones to access internet has substantially increased. Hence, we can’t totally ignore the value of mobile optimized press release in today’s PR distribution strategy. Not only it gives you more exposure, it allows your news release to load faster on mobile devices. Unfortunately, most of the press release distribution sites have totally ignored the benefits of mobile platforms such as Google AMP, Facebook Instant Articles and Apple News, and refused to change with time. However, the good news is that NewswireNEXT publishes your press release in all the 3 abovementioned mobile formats, which can truly give you an edge over your competitors.
