Child abuse is a serious societal issue and one that all of us need to address. We can do that by supporting agencies that work on behalf of children, and by making sure that we know the signs of abuse and what to do about it, said Lisa Gordon, executive director of the North Brunswick Organization for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
Many marketers want to know: “Are free press release services worth Insights looked into this query and found a few points worth mentioning that could sway your decision. “A great press release should include a great quote from a company executive or industry expert,” says eReleases President Mickie Kennedy. “An important thing to know about quotes is that the media generally won’t use them unless they are evocative, fresh or state something in a way that would be very difficult to paraphrase. To ensure your quote finds a home in a story based on your announcement, avoid cliches or generalizations.” More info at “You Can Quote Me On That!”

“I can’t believe how well this massage worked on my little Rembrandt!” exclaims Judy Neworth from Orlando, FL. “Every Fourth of July, my poor pooch was under the washing machine, shivering in fear. Not this year! This year I gave Rembrandt the massage I learned from the Dog Massage video and he slept through the entire fireworks show.”
After the title, use a paragraph or two to describe your company with 5 or 6 lines each. The text must describe your company, its core business and the business policy. Many businesses already have professionally written brochures, presentations, business plans, etc. That introductory text can be put here.
Immediately following your grabber, compel readers to continue on with an engaging game description. Be sure to weave in core benefits, as well as what makes your game unique. Here is a great press release example of a strong game description.

PR Newswire:  The PR Newswire iReach service does not include wire distribution. Their ranks tell us about their SEO potential for any live links we put on their site. Over the years that we’ve maintained this list, PRLog has always remained at the top, but even sites like PR.com have lost rank across all search reputation monitors.

The final thing to consider regarding your press release is how much editing it will take. Remember, a press release is meant to be picked up by the media, and pushing one out that includes errors or other mistakes can be devastating to your company. With that in mind, set aside ample time to edit your press release before you publish it.
In my experience, if it reads like the lead to a story then it makes it easier for a news outlet to publish as is, or for a reporter to pick up the ball and run with it from there. I am not saying every news outlet will use your exact lead, or even publish the release in full, but it does give them a good idea of how they might approach your story. I have had a lot of success having my press releases picked up and run as is.
News sources, collectively, described as alternative media provide reporting which emphasizes a self-defined non-corporate view as a contrast to the points of view expressed in corporate media and government-generated news releases. What makes a good story? Anything that could interest or affect your classmates, teachers, school or family will make a good story. For example, science topics like the strange worlds of the planets and how the weather works … school activities such as fund-raisers, what goes on in music classes, and the importance of safety patrols … after-school activities … a review of a book you enjoyed … or how middle school will be different from fourth grade all could make good newspaper stories. Be curious. Ask yourself, What would I like to know more about? — then write a story about it.
Thanks, Kari! You’ve confirmed what I thought. I’m a (very) small business on a shoestring startup (or maybe just baling twine) but with a unique, timely and as far as I know, unheard of product. Waiting to be discovered is a bitch so I want to make some noise that will be heard. As far as one-on-one emails to reporters, do I start at the top with GMA? 😉
Black and others say you should assume no one is going to read beyond the first paragraph, which makes it the most important. Many releases also take up a journalistic style, beginning with a dateline, or the city and state the news is coming from.
5. The boilerplate statement follows the body. The boilerplate is a chunk of text that can be used repeatedly, just as an About page is used on a website. This is where the details about your company are listed including; the services you provide, and perhaps names the key executives as well. It can contain your mission and vision for your company. This is the public persona you wish to project for your company.
