The first paragraph must explain all the W’s while the second paragraph should talk about what is the purpose of the press release, why should you care, when it will happened and where can people find it. Also, it should cover the statistics and other factual elements to make the information more genuine and authentic for the media and audience to believe.
While some people mistakenly believe that storytelling is reserved for novels and books, it’s a critical tool for a product-focused press release. The reason is simple: people don’t want to simply hear the features of your new product. Instead, they want to hear why they should use it, how it will change their lives, how you came up with it, and what makes it so different from anything else on the market. Storytelling is the best way to achieve these things.
Palamedes PR: This is a UK agency with a very nicely designed site, which is a pleasure to navigate.  One aspect of Palamedes PR that is cool is their “price match guarantee.” They state that if you find a lower price for the same type of service elsewhere, they will match it.

While it can be a useful background document for journalists, a press release isn’t a story. If you want to maximise your chances of getting press coverage, you will have to tweak your idea, and your release, for different publications or programmes. You can find more information about how to find journalists’ contacts details in this article.
Immediately upon arriving at the eReleases site you are greeted with a friendly page with lots of information that is easy to read. The site lets you know why it is worth using for your press release submission.
I’d recommend pitching the writer first, with an angle specific to their beat. If a case needs to be made to the editor, it can fare better coming from the writer, who’s already had an opportunity to work out an angle with the PR rep. As an editor, I’m more likely to prioritize emails coming from those I have personal relationships with. These have been built over the years from the days when I was the writer presenting to my editors. Starting a new relationship with me as an editor, the most successful pitches have been those offering high profile interviews (editors that still write columns will want to take these for themselves before passing them off to junior writers) or highly specific content, like an original guest contribution. Title. describe what the release is about. For SEO, try to use a client keyword phrase in the title, preferably at the beginning and in place of the business name. “Sunshine Coast IVF” is one of our target keywords. I could have optimized this title further by putting our keyword first with a title like, “Sunshine Coast IVF Clinic Announces Opening Of New Clinic In Buderim.”
In addition to being picked up by journalists, this press effort has also resulted in additional writeups and mentions since then, and continues to bring Shoreline Lake to the attention of oenophiles and others wanting unique wine-based, and related, experiences in Silicon Valley. This was not a standalone effort however; but rather a tactic used to achieve some very specific market communications goals (which were all met).
Note: Please provide your COMPLETE CONTACT WITH FULL POSTAL ADDRESS data media representatives. Otherwise we will NOT publish your press release! (It is not sufficient to indicate just an email address or URLs.)
We recently used PR Newswire’s services to announce our newly hired Director of Development. Our release was picked up by over 100 online publications. Their services and website are user-friendly, and we were truly impressed by the results. It was definitely worth the investment!
A press release is an official announcement (written or recorded) that an organization issues to the news media and beyond. Whether we call it a press release, a press statement, a news release, or a media release, we’re always talking about the same basic thing.
Twitter is a good place to start. Find writers who cover similar productions to yours. If it’s a sci-fi, find the sci-fi enthusiasts. Get to know the content producers. Read / watch their material. Share their material on social media (it goes both ways!). Essentially, you should build relationships with people who have extensive (real) online reach. Check out the Twitter lists on the bottom of this page.
You must know that a reader already has all the information they need to profile your image. A press release is just a way to help them add in more information to what they already know. So, always ensure that you write your press release in a way that it has valuable for them to read. You need to write a concise and a helpful piece and most importantly a valuable one.
At the bottom of your press release should be the contact info for the person fielding press queries for the album, even if this information is also at the top of your page. Set this information apart from the body of your press release in the same manner as you did the header – again, a box around the text works great, as does a larger type size or bolding/italicizing the text.

Example: A pizza shop owner has added “vegan pizza” to his menu. We create a unique page on the client’s pizza website that talks about the new product, with pictures and maybe a video showing how the specialty vegan pizza is made.

It can be tempting to provide superfluous facts and tidbits about your company or the development of your announcement — we sometimes think a piece of writing is lacking if it isn’t drawn-out and just shy of being a novella. However, a press release needs to be helpful and concise.
The lead, or first sentence, should grab the reader and say concisely what is happening. For example, if the headline is Careen Publishing releases new WWII novel, the first sentence might be something like, Carpren Publishing, Ltd., today released their first World War II novel by celebrated writer Darcy Kay. It expands the headline enough to fill in some of the details, and brings the reader further into the story. The next one to two sentences should then expand upon the lead.
Former TV news anchor and media professor Mark Grimm gives easy to understand tips on how to create a great press release. This media training Includes plenty of insider’s advice on writing, visuals and journalists’ needs with strong examples (2013)
@Madhav – Yes, all of these can be used for small blogs, but it begs the question if you want to risk using a free press service for your site and possibly get hit in any downgrade on any search engine update, or if you want to spend the $300 plus on a higher quality press service. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is what purpose would a press release serve for your blog?
The remainder of the body paragraphs serve to complete the story you have introduced in the headline and 1st body paragraph. Be sure to write in a journalistic style so that media outlets can use your text as-is. Use short paragraphs (2-4 sentences), and feel free to include statistics, hyperlinks, media content and quotes.
