local press release distribution writing a good press release

List your tour dates but limit the list to no more than five or six upcoming dates. Indicate that the full list of tour dates is available on your band’s website. Include the website address, as well as any social media channels you or the band uses to promote your work. If there is anything special about any of the shows, for instance, if a show is an afternoon gig or if the show is 18+ only, include that information.
Give journalists some time to craft a story around your press release by sending it to them — under embargo — the day before it officially goes live. (FYI under embargo just means they aren’t allowed to share the information in the press release until the time you specify.)
Yves Rochard, president of CNMW had this to say, “We are delighted with our partnership with Laser Shooting Robots and look forward to introducing their product to the European market. There is a synergy between our two brands that we feel will result in a profitable relationship for both of us. We have already integrated their sales tools into our website and will begin manufacturing, and shipping Laser Shooting Robots as of February 2012.”
The site itself has a very busy homepage with press releases visible on the first page. There does seem to be a good mix of release topics if you dig into the site. Small businesses are mentioned alongside larger companies, but finding the information takes time to make sense of what is there.
SILVER SPRING, Md., March 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — As part of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s ongoing efforts to protect consumers from health fraud, the agency is reminding consumers to be wary of unapproved products claiming to…
But don’t try to be clever: most journalists will spend just a few seconds deciding whether something looks interesting. If they don’t immediately understand what your story is about, they’ll move on to the next thing in their inbox.
With timing, there are two things to worry about – how much notice to give and the date and time of actually sending the press release. Let’s face it – stories about (indie) films are not Breaking News. Many channels have their “low urgency” items mapped out for weeks ahead, so if you’re hoping to get a story out before your big premiere, make sure you give them enough time to schedule it in – but not so much time that they will put it aside and forget all about it. How much notice is needed varies from hours to several weeks, even months. Smaller online channels usually have a faster turnaround, whereas traditional newsrooms plan further ahead. This is something you can actually contact the writers about – a good way to start building those relationships!
Hi, I have written several email to blog and online journal before and after my project is launched. What should I do? Should I use press release service? I believe my project is pretty cool, I think I just need more exposure.
When writing a press release, it’s important to remain consistent in your language, but naturally make your writing engaging. There are thousands of releases everyday and as PR professionals, we are to make OUR OWN news engaging and exciting. You want people to read your work and #1. think it’s cool and #2. be impacted in some way.
There’s your news! There are several types of press releases you can write. Starting a business. Having new employees joining your team. Your company wins awards. You’re working with a charity. Or anything new or different about your business and its product line constitutes a newsworthy press release.
WASHINGTON — The Federal Communications Commission order overturning Net Neutrality protections was published in the Federal Register on Thursday morning, triggering a countdown clock for certain legal and congressional actions to overturn the widely unpopular decision.
This press release celebrated a big milestone by acknowledging both past success and planned future expansion – then and now. Would you prefer to follow some old school thought for your business or brand’s recognition? Definitely not! Following the old school of thought is not advantageous for your business anymore. It can seek to ruin all the efforts that you have made to build your brand. Success comes to us when we follow a new school of thought and the current trends. Similarly, when it comes to devising a public relations strategy, you need to come up with strong content to represent your brand.
This is a great read. Really helped me understand some of the questions I have been trying to get answered. I run a public company so we mainly focus on our Investor Relations and I totally agree that distribution services are for the most part worthless. So I have set out to learn how to obtain a better ROI and it has been tough. I have also found that many companies when sharing their results of you utilizing their service seem to be fluffed or not completely transparent.
The intrigue/compulsion factor of your book press release headline needs to be balanced by some actual information. The best headlines both intrigue and inform – neither function can be ignored.  My article on how to select the perfect book title can help with your headline selection as well.
• Launch of a new product or service – you’ll have the most success with this if the product or service is unique (like the press release about the first Bitcoin ATM in the US we used as an example above, which was covered everywhere from Mashable and CNET to The New Yorker, all as a result of directly pitching reporters). If you’re not launching something new or that provides a unique value to buyers, you’re going to struggle to get covered.
We recommend PR Web as the best press release distribution service for online exposure because they include significantly more online resources in their distribution network — over 30,000 compared to over 5,900 for eReleases and over 1,400 for PR Newswire.
Press releases are also known as news releases. Back to basics, it means just that: news. If you’ve been marketing the same heating pad for 20 years and nothing’s changed, there’s no reason to write a press release. Editors will snub their nose and then line the bottom of their trash can.
Next on our list is PR Newswire. Like most sites, this one requires an account, which is not a difficult task if you have noted the information mentioned previously. You will have to provide your business email, as an email account from a disposable service (Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, etc.) will not be accepted. This is a standard concept, because many sites require a login. The login is necessary because most of the sites charge fees on per release, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
The site offers several different press distribution options, including a free plan to submit up to one posting per day.  They also provide great press release writing tips on their “PR Resources” page.
I’ve been a tech journalist for 20+ years and I couldn’t agree with Craig more: (a) there are some very good pointers in this article, but (b) watch out for the message coming across as a template-driven thing, and (c) for God’s sake never, ever send me a press release as a Word attachment! I honestly never look at them. Well, not unless I already know something about the topic and I know the sender. And then I’ll ask them to please not send me things like that any more. I know it sounds like a very grumpy attitude, but it’s just how it is. I’m sure the majority of journos feel the same about press release attachments. By all means consider these structure pointers but just put it all into the email body!
Final Thoughts- Little expensive, but ideal for publicly traded companies, bigger firms and industries like biomedical tech and finance. There is nothing on the site about helping to write press releases or writing services. This is okay for larger, more established businesses, but for a small company, it may pose somewhat of a problem if there is trouble with the release writing.
As you sift through your message boards looking for quotes, you see a trend appearing. There are lots of messages criticizing Hollywood actresses and pop singers for being too thin. Many girls are saying that seeing these women make them feel bad about their own bodies. A number of the boys are pointing out that they don’t find ultra-thin women appealing.
Have you ever thought about writing an e-book or guest authoring on other blogs? I have a blog centered on the same topics you discuss and would really like to have you share some stories/information. I know my viewers would appreciate your work. If you’re even remotely interested, feel free to shoot me an email.
There are many differences between advertising and public relations and in PR, the media is not required to cover your story. You send your press releases hoping they will pick it up for their magazine, newspaper or local newscast.
