kidrobot press release gorillaz newspaper report sample

As a senior journalist who has just crossed over to the dark side of PR, I am amazed at some of the advice above, obviously from people who have never worked as a journo and have little idea as to how they work (well, how we worked and how I suspect most major news organisations work).
And while it may be tempting to craft a press release that embellishes your company’s accomplishments or twists the facts to make a story sound more intriguing to the media, remember: Press releases live in the public domain, which means your customers and prospective customers can see them. So instead of thinking of a press release solely as a ticket to earning news coverage, you should also think of it as a valuable piece of marketing content.
Their FAQ section includes over 40 frequently asked questions, including a few answered in video format. Their FAQ covers a wide variety of topics and just about any question you’d want to ask a best press release distribution site.
I apologize if this comes across a bit rude. I followed your guidelines and did plenty of research into writing a press email. I sent to over 60 gaming sites using the videogamejournalist spreadsheet and filtered out any of the non-related ones. Out of those 60 only ONE big site PCgamer took the chance to reply. Everyone on reddit has told me that big walls of text like the one you are advising people are going to get trashed straight away. Such a shame. We have barely any exposure and our Kickstarter campaign will likely fail. It’s funny because our game is interesting enough to be written about, as Kotaku and RPS took their own initiative to write about our game earlier in the year. Now when I did a proper press release following your guidelines it has crippled us. Literally only one decent site of the 60 wrote about us. I’ll bet our email address is blacklisted now.
[…] my fellow PR family, we all know the key to being a great PR in any business is press releases. When you are write for any business (big or small) or if its for a person, understand that a press […]
PR has seen many changes in the past few years — including technology, distribution of news, and the challenges facing journalists. Do these changes signal a shift away from the press release? Not at all! When crafted correctly, press are valuable PR tools. Learn what press release best practices for 2018 can make your news and announcements more effective in today’s competitive world.
Your CTA needs an action word (i.e., sign up or view) that prompts the reader to take the next desired step. Use language that creates urgency, such as Today or Limited Supply. Decide what action you want your readers to take, and craft a CTA that will nudge them in that direction.
Let’s start with the basics. The opening line of your press release has got to tell the reader everything they need to know about this story. You need to tell them who the story is about, where it’s happening, what is happening, when it’s happening, why it’s happening and how. Do your best to get all six of these details into the top couple of lines – and preferably the opening sentence if you can.
Resist the urge to send your press release to every journalist whose contact information you can find. Instead, approach your distribution methodically. Once you decide what publications you want to reach out to, do your research to find who is relevant to your industry.
The idea behind this press release was to educate people about a new dating app (small business) as well as empathize with any single person who reads it. We placed a small insert about why we developed the app and let readers know that we too are single and feel what they’re going through.
Some public relations firms send out video news releases (VNRs) which are pre-taped video programs that can be aired intact by TV stations. Often, the VNRs are aired without the stations’ identifying or attributing them as such.
This is a little obvious, but you need something newsworthy to issue a press release, otherwise who cares? Have a look at Canadian ecommerce company Well.ca and their impressive list of awards for which they’ve garnered significant media attention:
Your readers might be interested to get started with it now. I recently released a template that you can use to create your own (mobile friendly) social media press release. It’s free and open-source.
BriefingWire.com lets you setup multiple Business Profiles which is great for client submissions. In fact, the company profile page provides a dofollow link, even before you submit your first release!
The final paragraph in your press release should be the boilerplate, which presents information about your company and what it does. This should be a factual description, and it can be used repeatedly in different press releases.
If you’re going to write a product press release, it needs to be done well. Since the purpose of a press release is to inform the media about your upcoming product, it’s critical to ensure that every piece of the press release is newsworthy, professional, and accurate. With this in mind, here are four things to consider before you sit down to write your press release:
Will you instead review the basics and look at the templates and give it a shot?  The internet is loaded with press releases and yours will quickly get lost in the shuffle.  What will your headline be?
Include the company name in the headline, any subhead, and in the body of the first paragraph for better visibility via search engines and for news professionals and other readers. If you’re mailing a hard copy, you may put it on company letterhead.
Write the summary section. The summary area needs to be between two to three sentences long and describes the key focus of the press release. For the product launch, you can write about the product, when it is (or was) scheduled for release, and the target audience.
Duplicate content also comes into play in any discussion about potential downfalls of press releases. Since the media outlets that pick up your press release are syndicating the text, links will be coming in from identical content pieces. Because of the nature of press releases, this means that each link will be worth less than inbound links from unique content. That being said, the added domain authority of the news sites still makes it worthwhile to distribute.
Easy to use online format. Paypal payment a breeze. The Press Release will be sent in the morning. We’re looking forward to seeing the news about the Heated Mouse Pro all over the Internet! Thank you!
The next two to three paragraphs of your press release should contain the rest of the story. This should be additional details, a bit of product or company history as well as any more information they would need to know about your press release topic.
The first paragraph must explain all the W’s while the second paragraph should talk about what is the purpose of the press release, why should you care, when it will happened and where can people find it. Also, it should cover the statistics and other factual elements to make the information more genuine and authentic for the media and audience to believe.
Communicate the 5 W’s (and the H) clearly. Who, what, when, where, why ––and how–– should tell the reader everything they need to know. Consider the checklist in context with the points below, using the example above to generate our press release:
A few years back, people used to go through the newspapers for the news but nowadays, the internet has replaced the role of the newspapers. Am I right in saying this or not? I am sure that you will agree to the fact that the first thing we do in the morning is to check our social media accounts. We go through the news feed on our Facebook profile and scan through the headlines on Twitter. We do all of this to see what is trending but what exactly makes us stop and actually read something? It’s the catchy and engaging content. That is where writing an engaging press release comes in.
Use human language — in other words, skip the hype. Avoid stuffing your title with keywords, slang, idioms, or industry jargon. Use simple, every-day language. Search engines favor such human-sounding headlines over exaggeration or word-play.

The reporter isn’t interested in helping you make money or driving visitors to your site. He’s looking for a story that will be interesting to his readers and pleasing to his editor. He could care less about your great selection, super customer service and commitment to quality. He wants to know only the info that will help him craft a good story about teens and their weight.
Start a press release with an attention-grabbing headline in bold font. Begin the body copy with the date and city that the release is from. Your lead sentence should be a concise summary of the subject of the release. The rest of the body tells all the important details of your story: who, what, when where why and how. Put the most important information first, followed by more general information, and don’t forget to include your contact information at the end.
