When you send a press release, it’s a good idea to include a short outline of your idea (no more than a paragraph) and where you think it might fit in the publication you’re pitching to. Paste your press release underneath, as a busy journalist may not bother to an open an attachment. Photos can be helpful if they add something to the story, but avoid sending big files that will clog up peoples’ inboxes.
There’s your news! There are several types of press releases you can write. Starting a business. Having new employees joining your team. Your company wins awards. You’re working with a charity. Or anything new or different about your business and its product line constitutes a newsworthy press release.
Giving out a press release is a great way to get publicity for an event. In a press release, you print various details of a particular matter in a newspaper, which helps in getting the interested people know about it. It is different from an advertisement and has to be written like a news article. Press release templates are report templates which can help you in understanding how to write a press release the right way.
PR For Books: This is a specialist, UK based book promotion company which currently charges just under $290 for their services. PR For Books sells their services on the basis that they are a specialist book marketing company with over a decade of experience. They claim to have a track record dealing with the most relevant sources of publicity for authors – book reviewers and literary media, for example.
Example: A home security company is launching a new website with improved useability and customized features. Since the news is general and not talking about a specific product or service, we’ll usually point the links back to the company’s home page.
The remainder of the body paragraphs serve to complete the story you have introduced in the headline and 1st body paragraph. Be sure to write in a journalistic style so that media outlets can use your text as-is. Use short paragraphs (2-4 sentences), and feel free to include statistics, hyperlinks, media content and quotes.
In order to do that, you’ll first have to come up with a story. It may be that you’re releasing a quirky product, sponsoring a charity event or have discovered some intriguing market insights. Either way, it’s got to be interesting, and it’s got to be genuine. That’s the easy part. The tricky bit is convincing journalists that it’s worth publishing.
The site also includes case studies, something that can be closely tied to releases. There is no direct pricing on the site, as users must request information via a login and request form. However, if you can spare $6K to $12K on an annual single or double license subscription, then it’s the best public relations software one can ever use. The companies listed seem to run a full gambit and include many Canadian sites and businesses, making this perfect for resellers and anyone looking for international distribution.
This should be factual and to the point, but it doesn’t need to be boring. Consider finding unconventional ways to say conventional things. If you can make a journalist smile, you will stand a much greater chance of making an impression on them, and thus, having your book featured.
The press release was an announcement that my client’s books were available at the Fest for Beatles Fans event in Chicago and they can be purchased already signed by the authors. Not only did this create a boom for my author’s books, it generated traffic to the Fest website which has won me brownie points with the owners. This release is also timeless and can be linked to on social media again and again.
At what points in development should I be sending a press release? Are screenshots enough with a first announcement or should there always be something more? Also is it different for mobile development than pc development?

For any well-written release with genuine news, a paid press release service is the most cost-efficient way to earn legitimate media placements, confirmed by valid media monitoring and measurement reports. If you use your own media contact list as your primary method of targeting specific journalists and news outlets, the paid news release services can and should be used to supplement and backstop your targeted media relations efforts.
An effective press release takes time and effort in order to be put together correctly. If you are just sending them out with no strategy or purpose involved, most of the time they simply fall on deaf ears.
With many press release distribution companies, they include ‘reports’. Keep in mind that these reports are strictly used as ‘proof of distribution’ your news. Few are picked up and they should be expected to be.
Although there are many news agencies around the world, three global news agencies, Agence France-Presse (AFP), Associated Press (AP) and Reuters, have offices in most countries of the world and cover all areas of information. All three began with and continue to operate on a basic philosophy of providing a single objective news feed to all subscribers; they do not provide separate feeds for conservative or liberal newspapers. Jonathan Fenby explains the philosophy:
The site offers several different press distribution options, including a free plan to submit up to one posting per day.  They also provide great press release writing tips on their “PR Resources” page.
For something to be newsworthy, it must be something that audiences outside of your internal organization will care about; something that has significance to a reporter and their readers, viewers, or listeners, or to other external stakeholders (potential investors, etc).
Once you’ve submitted your order, your registration and press release will be checked for content acceptability.  iReach and PR Newswire maintain their reputations as credible news delivery services by adhering to acceptable content guidelines.
Advance notice helps too. If you have an event you are trying to get covered, waiting to send notice until editors are rushing out of the door on Friday evening could lead to a missed opportunity for media exposure. Editors will have to scramble to fit it into their story budgets for the weekend, leaving a bad taste in their mouth about your company.
Pearl, Allison, everyone at eReleases is just so professional, caring, and always available to share their considerable expertise. I cannot imagine every using another service! Thank you so very much!
Beyond that, all words in your headline should be in Title Case, meaning that all the words in your headline should have capitalization except for prepositions and words that are shorter than 4 letters. You can see an example of this in the headline above.
As we uploaded each release, we looked for ease of use, additional complementary services, paid-for upgrades and whether registration was required to use the service. Each release was amended slightly so that we could identify if it were covered by other sites we would be able to identify which source they had got it from.
The first paragraph should sum up your story in about 50-100 words. You don’t have very much time to get to the point so make every word count. Avoid including boring self-promotion and focus instead on the 5 W’s: Who, What, Where, When and Why. These questions will get to the point of your story in no time.
The next two to three paragraphs of your press release should contain the rest of the story. This should be additional details, a bit of product or company history as well as any more information they would need to know about your press release topic.

It’s a toss up between PRWeb and PRNewswire for the best paid press release site. PRNewswire has the highest score of all the paid sites and offers a huge arsenal of tools for optimizing your release. It’s reported to have the best overall distribution also, but it comes with a hefty price tag. The average cost of a release with all the bells and whistles can cost as much as $1,000 although they do have iReach, which starts at $129. PRWeb offers a robust release around $200. Both offer activity and SEO reporting on press releases.
