Write a boilerplate underneath the body of your release. That means it’s time to include information about your company. When a journalist picks up your press release for a story, he or she would logically have to mention the company in the news article. Journalists can then get the company information from this section.
A well-written press release is the first step in getting some attention for your new album. Use this template to help you organize your information. Note that this template was written with bands and indie labels in mind as the writers and the media in mind as the readers. PR folks and radio pluggers will want to take a slightly different approach with their press releases, and one- sheets for distributors and stores should also be slightly different.
Former TV news anchor and media professor Mark Grimm gives easy to understand tips on how to create a great press release. This media training Includes plenty of insider’s advice on writing, visuals and journalists’ needs with strong examples (2013)
Keep phone calls to a minimum. Journalists are busier than ever and typically have little to no time to hear your pitch over the phone. No journalist ever wants to hear: “Did you read my press release?” If you write a clever, succinct, topical pitch, that will hopefully generate a positive response from the media.

Make them read like news article – Study news articles in your local paper. News articles will have the five Ws and the H in their beginning paragraph. This is called the lead. These basic elements are:
At the end of your press release, you should include the word END or ###. This will tell your readers that nothing follows. It also tells journalists that the end of the press release has been reached.
This may come as surprise to small business owners, as a number of press release distribution services advertise that their press releases are “SEO optimized” or “SEO friendly”. What they mean is that the press release is coded in a way where if a person types in certain keywords, particularly into Google News, then the press release is more likely to appear in the results than a non-optimized release. How much more likely? I haven’t seen one company yet give hard numbers. It’s more likely that this is an advertising gimmick that press release distribution services use to sell their service to less informed clients.
Getting your press release in the hands of the news media most likely to be interested in what you have to say is your next challenge. So think about who is likely to care at all about your news? This might include:
Boost awareness with all the benefits of Basic and Standard photo options, plus receive distribution to AP Photo Express, archival on AP Images, NewsCom and PR Newswire image archive sites, and image re-use at no charge, for up to one year.
The old standard is that a release should be similar to a story the journalist would write. Reporters often stick to a structure known as the inverted pyramid, which means the most significant parts or the story should be at the top, with everything getting less important as you go farther down the page. This ensures that even someone who just reads the top of the release will get the most important information, and makes it easier to cut text from the bottom for space.
And television stations are a different story entirely. If you’re trying to get air time for an event, send out your press release to your local TV stations at least two days beforehand. Since news varies from day-to-day, a car crash can prevent stations from covering your event. But your chances are even lower if they receive your press release the same day.
You might want to get people you know on it and/or beta testers. So that when they try it there are already some players. Another way would be to do a soft launch to have enough people on board already before you try to get it reviews. Whether you do beta testing or the soft launch, you’ll probably learn a ton in the process and be able to improve your app. Pushing it too soon is usually not a good idea. If you do want to do it, creating a video could help understand how fun the game gets when it’s multiplayer.

Would you prefer to follow some old school thought for your business or brand’s recognition? Definitely not! Following the old school of thought is not advantageous for your business anymore. It can seek to ruin all the efforts that you have made to build your brand. Success comes to us when we follow a new school of thought and the current trends. Similarly, when it comes to devising a public relations strategy, you need to come up with strong content to represent your brand.
Much like the first paragraph of a news story, the first paragraph of your press release should cover the whos, whats, wheres, hows and maybe whys of whatever you’re promoting. Look at it like this – you want someone who decides not to read past the first paragraph to still know the basic information they need to know about your project. Of course, your first paragraph should also give someone a reason to WANT to keep reading, but even if they don’t, they should still walk away from this intro knowing who you are and what you are promoting.
Yves Rochard, president of CNMW had this to say, “We are delighted with our partnership with Laser Shooting Robots and look forward to introducing their product to the European market. There is a synergy between our two brands that we feel will result in a profitable relationship for both of us. We have already integrated their sales tools into our website and will begin manufacturing, and shipping Laser Shooting Robots as of February 2012.”
Press release services distribute your press releases to journalists and reporters, thereby increasing their exposure and the likelihood that they’ll be published. We looked at the most popular options and rising stars and decided to review eReleases, PR Web, and PR Newswire. These companies are the most popular press release distribution services on the market today that are in a price range that small business owners can afford.
Consistent with Section 601 of the Implementing the Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, as amended (50 U.S.C. 3306), the Director of National Intelligence is disclosing to the public the aggregate amount of appropriations requested for Fiscal Year 2019.
An alternative is the self-published press release. In this approach, press releases are either sent directly to local newspapers or to free and paid distribution services.[7] The distribution service then provides the content, as-is, to their media outlets for publication which is usually online.
At the bottom of your press release should be the contact info for the person fielding press queries for the album, even if this information is also at the top of your page. Set this information apart from the body of your press release in the same manner as you did the header – again, a box around the text works great, as does a larger type size or bolding/italicizing the text.
The key question to ask yourself before preparing one is, “Who cares about this information?” And as long as the answer is people who will turn to the press for information, you’re on the right track with your press release.
