That said, I may take your suggestion a bit further. Instead of saying FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, I may put something like FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE or EMBARGOED UNTIL [INSERT DATE] so developers know where to put the for immediate release or embargo date 🙂

You give or send it to the editor or journalist and if it’s a good story, they’ll decide to run it or not. You should study your target publications first to see if your story is relevant to their readership. If a publication wants to charge for your story, that’s not PR, that’s advertising.
