italicize press release bluebook book draft format

We have crafted this comprehensive, easy-to-follow press release template complete with a promotional plan and considerations for your next announcement. We use these same guidelines when writing and formatting our releases here at HubSpot, and created a faux, sample release to illustrate what content goes where and why.
Once you’re ready to launch, check out our comparison of the top press release distribution services for small businesses. While results, by nature, are unpredictable, we found eReleases to be the most promising. Their distribution network includes Associated Press, PR Newswire and their own network of journalists and bloggers. Click here to check it out.
Get serious about building relationships with journalists and influencers in your industry. In the real estate industry, for example, Twitter is not mainstream. However, we leverage Twitter for sourcing news for our blog and relationship building with government agencies, journalists, and writers. I put contacts in lists, include their stories in our blog posts, retweet their work, and I also capture their contact information and connect with them on other social platforms. When I do have something important to reach out about with these contacts, the goal is for them to see my email and say: “Oh, I know this guy” and have that also have a positive undertone. This is a longtail, relationship building strategy, one that your competitors are unlikely to follow.
3. Press releases must not contain more than one hyperlink per release and only as a simple link (http://www.samplelink.com/). The link will not be active. For for more active links accompanining the realse please read the note below. Note that those ignoring this rule and posted multiple links will not be posted.
Explain about your company, and include a link to your company’s home page. Include titles of the people you cite, whether it’s a CEO, CFO, or another title that isn’t an alphabet soup combination. If you use statistics or data, link to the appropriate source material.
Every day is a holiday! It really is. Do a quick search online and identify “holidays” that make sense for your business. An Italian restaurant may list out National Pizza Day (February 9), National Pasta Day (October 17) and National Lasagna Day (July 29). Next, create fun and engaging promotions around the holiday. For example, on National Pizza Day, invite kids in to make their own pizza.
Give journalists some time to craft a story around your press release by sending it to them — under embargo — the day before it officially goes live. (FYI under embargo just means they aren’t allowed to share the information in the press release until the time you specify.)
If you’re handling press release distribution on your own, it’s nearly impossible to match the time and efficiency of a press release company. Press release distribution services can reach a wide range of media sources instantaneously, whereas it may take hours or even days for independent press release distribution to reach that same visibility.
B: Subject line. This one is key. Like I said before, you should stay factual and use something like “company releases product for platform.” It’s pretty hard but if you can, make it captivating and try mentioning something unique about your app (an award, its usage, etc.).
A press release is the quickest and easiest way to get free publicity. If well written, a press release can result in multiple published articles about your firm and its products. And that can mean new prospects contacting you asking you to sell to them. Talk about low-hanging fruit!
Writers and journalists are always looking for good story opportunities to post on their publication’s website – no matter the size or amount.  In many cases, any legitimate story is better than no story.
To make the most of your press releases, it’s important to find a distribution service that meets your needs. For many, free PR services provide the perfect solutions for affordability, visibility, and efficiency.
The final paragraph in your press release should be the boilerplate, which presents information about your company and what it does. This should be a factual description, and it can be used repeatedly in different press releases.
In this press release distribution article, we’ll provide an overview of the best press release companies, including paid and free press release websites. We’ll also go over the basics of press release distribution, including specific reasons why using a press release company can significantly boost your visibility online.
There’s a lot of squabble online about which press release distribution service is the best. Speaking from personal experience, there are only a handful that are worth using. I’ve nailed Wall Street Journal time and time again using Berkshire Hathaway’s Business Wire, but it costs $400 or more for a release with a 400-word limit. (They charge you for each 100 words after that.) You’ll also pay a pretty penny to add photos, videos, social media signals, and so forth.
If you want to get started without professional help, there are plenty of services that offer easy and inexpensive distribution. PRweb.com is a popular option, and they have many options for releasing online press releases.
The final thing to consider regarding your press release is how much editing it will take. Remember, a press release is meant to be picked up by the media, and pushing one out that includes errors or other mistakes can be devastating to your company. With that in mind, set aside ample time to edit your press release before you publish it.
Note: Please do not submit a release here that you have distributed through other similar channels. This will only hurt your efforts as it is seen as duplicate content and loses its prominence. We recommend that if you are sending out releases through more than one channel on the same topic that you rewrite each distribution slightly to give it its own unique flavour.
