developing a press release kit sending out a press release via email

Using a standard package from PR Web, we created a generic Press Release by PR Web for an incredible book by Pamela Hodges called “How to Be a Cat.”  This book is so fun and catchy that some of my favorite authors like Marion Roach Smith, Joe Bunting, Jeff Goins, and Steven Pressfield gave incredible endorsements.
Hi Mickie, seoPRwire is also a free press release distribution site that is thriving. Since its launch in August 2009, we have improved and worked hard on our SEO and now stands at Google Page Rank 3. Another great resource for small business world wide. Thanks and you can also add it on your list.
Once you submit your release, MailChimp allows you to see which recipients opened your email. This allows you to follow up with certain reporters of interest to determine if they need any additional quotes or details for their story regarding your release. You can also A/B split test your emails to see which subject lines have higher open rates.
3. Press releases must not contain more than one hyperlink per release and only as a simple link (http://www.samplelink.com/). The link will not be active. For for more active links accompanining the realse please read the note below. Note that those ignoring this rule and posted multiple links will not be posted.
Add your contact information. If your press release is really newsworthy, journalists would surely like more information or would like to interview key people associated with it. If you are comfortable with the idea of letting your key people be contacted directly by media, you can provide their contact details on the press release page itself. For example, in the case of an innovation, you can provide the contact information of your engineering or research team for the media.
A press release is a written document prepared for the media – also called the press – that announces something newsworthy. This 1-3-page document is disseminated to the media in the hopes that reporters and editors will use the information contained within in an upcoming TV or radio broadcast, in a newspaper or magazine issue, or on the media’s website.
Be personal. At the very least, customize your email with a specific person’s name instead of mass mailing a press release to several people using To Whom It May Concern. Once you have created your media list, look them up on social media or Google them to see what they have written lately. If you show how your press release is relevant to, or maybe of interest to them due to their previous story, they are more likely to cover you.
As stated by an article in Forbes, “Press releases are still beneficial for SEO in 2015, but their power and their nature are in the middle of a transformative shift.” Therefore, press releases should not be your top priority but rather an addition to the rest of your holistic SEO strategy. If other areas of your SEO strategy are ironed out, press releases will help boost your authority.
Ideally, quotes will be from key stakeholders in your company including your executive team, project leads, or those directly impacted by your announcement. Quoting key figures and authorities underlines the importance of your development. The chosen quote should shape your narrative and emphasize the core of the announcement. Don’t ask everyone in your office for a comment or feel compelled to quote all 25 people included in the acquisition — pick one or two critical spokespeople and focus the quotes around their unique perspective.
This press release celebrated a big milestone by acknowledging both past success and planned future expansion – then and now. A community bank exists because of personal relationships and hometown service, so it was important to recognize this strong legacy and presence in our community after 80 years. At the same time, finance and banking have changed drastically over the years and we wanted to show our customers that we are poised for the future. This press release achieved our goal of celebrating past and future.
No matter what a press release covers, it’s no good if it wanders and rambles. To make your press release useful and compelling, stick to the point and be sure that all of the information you’re providing within the press release is relevant to your readers.
Be as concise as humanly possible so that you’re able to give readers a meaty chunk of what they’re about to eat without giving away all of the ingredients. From there, the paragraphs that follow should work like an inverted pyramid – expanding on the bullet points you’ve touched upon in your first line with bigger (but non-essential) facts. This is the time to present products specs or a few quirky tidbits from your survey. As you progress, try to keep your language snappy and mildly objective – because nobody wants to eat a dry piece of toast.
PR By The Book: PR By The Book is a PR service based in Austin and Nashville. They state they are able to help authors with various aspects of their promotional efforts – from conventional press releases to advanced branding strategies.

Although free press release distribution websites may seem like an easy public relations tactic, PR experts generally recommend avoiding them or at least being extremely leery of them. Paid news distribution services offer far better results, assert PR and SEO gurus.
When you’re narrowing down your options and selecting the right free PR distribution site for your needs, you likely want a provider that is convenient and is going to make the process as simple and as streamlined as possible for you.
Writers and journalists are always looking for good story opportunities to post on their publication’s website – no matter the size or amount.  In many cases, any legitimate story is better than no story.
Send your release by email, and use formatting sparingly. Giant type and multiple colors don’t enhance your news, they distract from it. Put the release in the body of the not as an attachment. If you must use an attachment, make it a plain text or Rich Text Format file. Word documents are acceptable at most outlets, but if you are using the newest version (.docx), save down a version (.doc). Newspapers especially, are on tight budgets now, and many have not upgraded. Use PDF files only if you are sending a full media kit with lots of graphics. Don’t type a release on letterhead, then scan it and email a jpeg of the scan––that’s a waste of your time and the editor’s. Just type the release straight into the email message.
A press release is an official announcement (written or recorded) that an organization issues to the news media and beyond. Whether we call it a press release, a press statement, a news release, or a media release, we’re always talking about the same basic thing.
Much like the first paragraph of a news story, the first paragraph of your press release should cover the whos, whats, wheres, hows and maybe whys of whatever you’re promoting. Look at it like this – you want someone who decides not to read past the first paragraph to still know the basic information they need to know about your project. Of course, your first paragraph should also give someone a reason to WANT to keep reading, but even if they don’t, they should still walk away from this intro knowing who you are and what you are promoting.
It is where the meat comes in. In your second paragraph, add some color to your project. Obviously, what you include in this paragraph depends very much on what you’re promoting, but for instance, describe the music – comparisons are always a little tricky, but a few comparisons to other artists give the reader at least a frame of reference. Highlight the reason why your story is unique. List your tour dates. Use this paragraph to give information that a member of the media could use to tell your story. In other words, your first paragraph tells them Artist X is doing Y. The second paragraph might give them Artist X is doing Y because of Z.
The majority of relevant journalists today can be found on Twitter actively sharing industry trends, news, and thoughts. While 140 characters doesn’t leave a lot of room for “fluff,” it forces publicists to create a hyper-focused, creative, and straightforward message that can be seen not only by the journalist, but also by their entire follower base. Better yet, pitch when replying to one of their relevant tweets. Make a pitch public and you’d be surprised how quickly others may respond!
